back in the usa

14 hours of sitting in uncomfortable plane seats and a 3 hour layover later...

i'm baaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!

i can't even believe it. the first full day i was back it was like it was all a dream. it's been almost a year since i have been in america and being back was very weird. it was definitely a culture shock but somewhat of a good one at that. one of the good things being in n out. yes, yes. (i know what you're thinking.) you were gone for 9 months in europe where every food you taste there just makes your mouth water and you actually missed in n out??? yes, yes i did. the food in europe was nothing short of amazing and nothing will ever compare, but i was having double double withdrawals. the first day back morgan helped me fix that.

i've seen a bunch of friends and family and it's so great catching up with them. it almost feels like i never left. it's such a great feeling to have with people. when you can go such a long time without seeing each other and the moment you reconnect you're just right back where you were before.

but i do miss my dutch family. and my dutch room. and my dutch house. and my dutch life. the moment i landed in los angeles it just really hit me that everything i had experienced and lived those past 9 months was now just a memory. it was now just all in the past. almost like a really long vacation. or even a dream. being back here makes me feel like now i'm getting back to real life. but i had this whole life while i was living in europe. this whole amazing life i never wanted to stop, until it did. i traveled to switzerland, england, belgium, germany, italy, and france. i met and made friends from all over the world (friends i will still keep in touch with and hopefully see again one day). i tried the most amazing foods. experienced the most brilliant cultures. found out so much about myself. and i lived in holland for crying out loud!!! i just can't believe it's over.

as sad as i am that this chapter in my life has come to a close, i'm excited to see what is next for me!

stay tuned...
xoxo
