living on the edge

so today i got to experience an obscene amount of adrenaline and fear both pumping through my body at the exact same moment. let's just say i was shakin in my boots. well, here's the story...

you could see it from a mile away. a pier that looked like it stretched all the way out into the middle of the ocean. but the pier isn't what my eyes were drawn to. it was that huge crane that dangled over the deep blue sea attached to a building which read, "bungee jump". i could already feel the nerves tingling in my arms and legs. (lets not forget the butterflies and my throat which felt like it was in my stomach) i was beyond nervous, but so excited at the same time. we walked on the pier out to that building, and with each step i could almost feel my skin crawl. i'm pretty sure i was feeling just about every emotion all wrapped in one. thank goodness i wasn't the first person up on that crane in that cage or i don't know what i'd do. the first one "to go" was a guy who looked to be about my age. he didn't speak a lick of english or i would've asked him if he was nervous before he jumped. but he looked cool and collected so i just watched in awe as he made the jump look so easy (leo said she thought he looked so pale and scared when he finished his jump - thank goodness that wasn't something i saw before mine- because i was up next). one of the surprisingly cute employees strapped a harness around me and tied the bungee rope to my feet, while another one prepared the cage for me to soon be joining him. i stepped on the cage and held on tight. as we started making our way up and out towards the end of the crane over the murky ocean water i could feel my legs shaking (which made me even more nervous because the cage was already a little shaky on it's own). we got to the tippy top, which was in fact 200 feet above the water, and i blatantly told the guy that i was scared sh**less. he laughed and said he could tell. i had been facing him on our ride up to my almost death jump, so he then had me turn around and face the open - the water which looked like it was a million miles below me. we were up there for what felt like seconds (but was really a minute or two because i was too scared to let go of the cage) and then he finally convinced me to ungrip my sweaty hand from the rail and the countdown began. three, two, one.....

it was so great. but super scary. (it took guts... hehe) the only thing i wish could've been different was that it was longer, because it went by in the blink of an eye. im so glad i got to experience this amazing thing i can say that i've done with my second family in my home away from home - holland. how cool is that!? i'd say pretty cool.

xoxo

p.s. here is the link to the video of me jumping! hope you feel like you're right there with me... screaming!!!
